Become Part of Norfolk Unity Brass
A warm welcome awaits you at Norfolk’s newest brass band
Do you have specific vacancies?
Yes, we’re currently specifically looking for players to fill the following vacancies: soprano cornet and front row corneet (x1).
What if I play something else?
Specific vacancies aside, our doors are always open to any brass or percussion player no matter their chosen instrument.
Are there regular rehearsals?
Yes, we usually rehearse every Tuesday between 7:30pm and 9:30pm at St Paul’s Church, Hellesdon, Norwich, NR6 6LD – handily located just off the NDR and outer Norwich ring road near the airport.
Does the band have many gigs?
We know being in a band is a big commitment, so we try not to take on too many gigs each year, but our busier periods are in the summer and at Christmas – everybody wants a band at Christmas!
What kind of music do you play?
All sorts – from Sam Smith to Shostakovich and everything in between! We play a huge range of music amassed over decades, with something to suit all tastes and occasions. Expect marches, blockbuster themes, pop tunes, classical favourites, original compositions and much more.
Does it cost anything to be a member?
Yes, we charge membership subscriptions of £10 per month towards rent, music, instruments and expenses – but lower rates are available for younger people, students and families with more than one member in the band.
What our members say
Norfolk Unity Brass is a lovely band to belong to. The bond of the band is strong with lovely social occasions which I believe then reflects on how we play together. Harmony in all things!
Tracey, Solo Cornet
We have a wonderful band, a united band, a band of friendly people who enjoy making music. We have a great Musical Director who leads us with passion and Tuesday nights are enjoyable!
Carole, 1st Horn

I’ve only been part of the band for a few months, but everyone has made me feel incredibly welcome and supported, and rehearsals have such a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Tuesday evenings have quickly become something I genuinely look forward to.
Mark, 2nd Cornet
Rehearsals are led by an Musical Director who has taken time to get to know us. He gets the best from us in an environment people want to be a part of. Social interaction is encouraged and I look at the other members and see friends with a shared passion not just people to play music with.
Sally, 3rd Cornet
Belonging to the Bass section is one of most satisfying. We resonate together beautifully and have a very fulfilling sensation about ‘anchoring’ the rest of the band’s wonderful contribution. The bass players are also good friends and feel ‘in step’, emotionally and tunefully!
Graham, BBb Bass

Tuesdays evenings are always a pleasure to play a wide variety of brass band music suited for all abilities with a wonderful group of friends.
Anne, Solo Horn
Always a joy to come along and spend an evening bashing out some brass band classics and interesting new pieces with the good friends I’ve made.
